Chief of Police Robbie Brown began his career with the Asheboro Police Department in 1995 as a patrol officer. He has served as a detective in the Vice/Narcotics Division, traffic crash investigator, street crimes officer, K9 handler, SWAT team member and was promoted to sergeant in 2007. He has served as a detective sergeant, patrol sergeant, street crimes sergeant, and K-9 sergeant until he was promoted to patrol lieutenant in 2012. He has served as the SWAT team commander, Internal Affairs investigator, and background investigator. In July 2015, Brown was promoted to the rank of captain and completed assignments in Support Operations and Field Operations. He was promoted to the rank of major in July 2018, assistant chief of police in October 2019, and chief of police in March 2024.  Brown holds an Associate in Applied Science in Criminal Justice from Randolph Community College, a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from High Point University, and is a graduate of North Carolina State University's Administrative Officers Management Program (AOMP) 56th session. Chief Brown has received the FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association’s Trilogy Award after successfully completing the following FBI-LEEDA courses: Supervisor Leadership Institute, Command Leadership Institute and Executive Leadership Institute.

Assistant Chief of Police Jay Hanson began his career in law enforcement with the Asheboro Police Department in 1998 as a patrol officer.  He later served as a Street Crimes Unit officer, Vice/Narcotics detective, K9 handler, SWAT team member, field training officer, general law enforcement instructor, and specialized firearms instructor. In 2008, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and served in both the Patrol Division and again in the agency’s Street Crimes Unit.  During this time, he also assumed the role of Internal Affairs investigator, as well as background investigator for police applicants. Hanson was promoted to the rank of lieutenant in 2013, where he served in the Patrol Division and later in the Criminal Investigations Division.  In 2019, he was promoted to the rank of captain and overseeing the agency’s Support Operations Division. In 2021, he was promoted to the rank of major and in 2024, he was promoted to the rank of assistant chief of police. Hanson holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Appalachian State University and Master of Justice Administration from Methodist University.  He is a 2011 graduate of North Carolina State University’s 59th Administrative Officers Management Program.

Captain Travis Curry began his law enforcement career in 2001 at the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.  He joined the Asheboro Police Department in 2005.  In his tenure at the Asheboro Police Department, he has served as a Patrol Officer, SWAT Team member, Honor Guard member, Street Crimes Officer, and K9 Handler.  In 2012, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and served as the Street Crimes, Patrol and Criminal Investigations supervisor until being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2017.  He served as a Criminal Investigations Lieutenant, Patrol Lieutenant and later as the Lieutenant over the Vice Unit and Special Enforcement Team. During this time, he also assumed the role of Internal Affairs Investigator, as well as a background investigator for potential police applicants. In February of 2024, Curry was promoted to the rank of Captain where he will oversee the agencies Support Operations Division.  In February of 2025, he was promoted to the rank of Major.  Curry holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Carolina University in Criminal Justice and has also graduated from North Carolina State University’s 83rd Administrative Officers Management Program in 2019, the Law Enforcement Management and Leadership program at Randolph Community College in 2014 and the FBI-LEEDA Law Enforcement Executive Development Program in 2019.

Captain Byron Hill began his career in law enforcement with the Asheboro Police Department in 2004 as a patrol officer.  He later served as a Field Training Officer, law enforcement instructor, Vice/Narcotics detective, School Resource Officer and SWAT Team member. Captain Hill held previous supervisory positions as the Community Resource Team Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, Vice/Narcotics and Special Enforcement Team Lieutenant and SWAT Team Commander.  Captain Hill is a veteran of the U.S. Navy.  Captain Hill holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Gardner-Webb University and is a 2018 graduate of North Carolina State University’s 80th Administrative Officers Management Program.

Captain Mike Jones began his career in law enforcement with the Asheboro Police Department in 2005 as a patrol officer. He has served as a Field Training Officer, SWAT team member, Vice/Narcotics Detective, Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force officer, General Instructor and Specialized Firearms Instructor. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2014 and served in the Patrol Division, Special Enforcement Team and Criminal Investigations Division. During this time, he assumed the role of background investigator for police applicants, as well as Internal Affairs Investigator. Jones was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2019, where he again served in the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division and as an Administrative Lieutenant. He was then promoted to Captain in 2024. Jones holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke and he is a 2020 graduate of North Carolina State University’s 86th Administrative Officers Management Program.
