The Asheboro Fire & Rescue Department (AFRD) is a multifaceted, all-hazards emergency response organization with a dedicated and committed workforce. The department is comprised of five divisions: Administration, Operations, Support Services, Fire and Life Safety, and the Training Division. AFRD maintains a Class 1 Insurance Service Office (ISO).
In 2024, AFRD responded to 4,619 calls for service over a coverage area of 19.57 square miles. The department also protects the Asheboro Regional Airport. AFRD continues to develop non-emergency, innovative ways to serve the community with the following programs: the Smoke Detector Program, the Citizens Ride-along Program, the Fire Education Outreach Program, and the Citizens Fire Academy.
