Yard Waste & Leaf Collection

Yard waste, including branches and shrubbery trimmings, should be stacked neatly and approximately two feet from the edge of the road, but not in the road, or ditch, or blocking the sidewalk for collection. Collection of yard waste is normally done on the day after garbage or recycling can collection. This type of debris is collected by a knuckle boom truck.

There is no charge for the first and second scoop of debris (that is within specifications) less than five feet in length and less than four inches in diameter. There is a $15 charge for the third scoop and each scoop thereafter. (A scoop is about the size of the bed of a short bed truck level full).

If waste is left in the ditch, blocking a sidewalk or in the street or if the waste does not meet proper specifications, the resident will be charged $24 per scoop. In case of afterhours/emergency collection, the resident will be charged $50 per scoop.

All sanitation charges will appear on the resident's regular water/sewer bill from the City of Asheboro.

Leaves are collected by the City's Street Division. Leaves should be raked to the street and kept separate from yard waste and trash containers. There is no charge for the collection of leaves by the vacuum truck. Bagged leaves will not be picked up.

Regular Household Garbage

Weekly residential garbage collection is provided to customers. Trash should be placed in garbage bags and tied securely, then placed in the 90-gallon, green roll cart. The roll cart should be placed within one foot of the curb (but not in the roadway) with the handle side away from the road. The cart should be at least four feet away from any other object. Carts must be out before 7:00 a.m. on the day of collection. Roll carts should be removed from the curb and returned to a proper storage area on the same day as pickup. Residents who have a permanent or temporary restriction that hinders their ability to maneuver containers for curbside collection may be eligible for assistance provided they cannot obtain help from an able-bodied person residing with them. In order to apply for this service, Utility Account Holders will need to submit the Needs Assistance Program Application signed by a physician or physician's assistant.

If you need to report a damaged cart or missed pick-up, please contact the Environmental Services Department at 336-626-1234 x 2211 or click here to report a damaged cart online. All collection routes are video recorded for quality control and the Department may review the video for verification purposes.
