Human Resources & Employment

The Human Resources Department has the responsibility of OSHA compliance, employee safety and wellness, workers compensation, liability insurance, health insurance and the personnel functions of the City. This requires orientation and training for both new and existing employees in order to stay in compliance with ever changing regulations.

Police Employment Information:


Upon completion of Basic Law Enforcement Training School, officers are entered into the Field Training Program for seventeen weeks. After this time, officers can receive advanced or specialized training in areas of Traffic, Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Drugs and Narcotics, Hostage Negotiations, and many other police skills.  The courses can serve as accreditation for Advance Certification by the North Carolina Training and Standard Commission and also toward promotion possibilities.
